Cross Country

The cross country team won all 4 races in yesterday's meet to improve the team's overall record to 10 wins in 12 races.
In the 7th grade girls race: Marika Maggos - 10, Maggie Pancini - 9, Samantha Minasian - 8, Maddie Mantych-7, Kalei Britos- 6, Jessica Skudlarek-4, Kathryn Cichon-3, Maggie Sullivan-2, and Alexis Jakubowski-1
7 boys race: Nick Macina-10, Justin Placko-9, Matt Cozine-8, Timm Banna-7, Mike Anderson-6, Danny Deveruex-5, Reno Horton-4, Patrick Backus-2, and Mike O'Malley-1
8 girls race: Chrissy Loeb - 13, Bridget Brassil-12, Hanna Peterson-11, Lilly Alvey-8, Damira McPherson-4, Emma Menich-3, Trina Leeney-2, and Gina Burck-1.
8 boys race: Reid Dahlstrom- 8, Quentin Varenne-5, Ben Pederson-4, Andy Inserra-3, Kevin Burck-2, and Quinn Dirks-1

Over the weekend, with unseasonably cool temperatures, the cross country team competed in the 12 team sectional race over a frost covered 2 mile course at Willow Stream Park in Buffalo Grove.
The boys’ team ran their best race of the season. They finished 4th, ahead of schools who had beaten them all season.
In a 84 runner field: Patrick Backus – 42, Quinn Dircks – 33, Quentin Varenne - 31, Kevin Burke – 24, Andy Inserra – 23, Mike O’Malley – 15, and Greg Suarez finished 5th .
Greg Suarez will be representing the boys’ team at the state meet.
The girls’ team finished 2nd out the 12 team field and will be competing at the state meet downstate next weekend.
In a 84 runner field: Jessica Skudlarek- 45, Gina Burck – 28, Katrina Leeney – 23, Kathryn Cichon – 19, Emma Menich – 15, Maggie Sullivan – 12, and Alexis Jakubowski finished 2nd.
Damira McPherson, Kalei Britos, and Samantha Minasian will also be representing the girls’ team as alternates for the state meet.

Over the weekend, the girls’ cross country team and Greg Suarez had strong showings against the best runners at the state cross country meet in Normal, Illinois.
The girls’ team finished 13th out of 27 teams.
In a 220 runner field: Jessica Skudlarek – 215, Kathryn Cichon – 150, Gina Burck - 143, Maggie Sullivan – 116, Emma Menich – 115, Katrina Leeney – 111, and Alexis Jakubowski earned all state honors with her 17th place finish.
Greg Suarez ran the 2nd fastest 7th grade time in the 233 runner field by finishing 15th overall in the race. He joined Alexis with all state honors.
